Italy – first rehearsal report here
It’s only 9.30 in the UK. It’s still early for such an assault on the senses, but my, is Italy a sweet one.
NEW OUTFITS KLAXON!
These are a bit gorge. It’s always a little difficult to tell from the rehearsal stream with an enormous watermark over it to prevent filming but they seem to be maroon leather, or leatherique effect. Damiano’s is high-waisted and features a double row of cross stitching with dungaree-type straps. (Have I ever told you about my dungarees fetish…?) The sartorial switch is now selling so much more sex. And I’m buying.
Damiano now invites us with him as he enters the stage from behind the drum kit. It’s an enticing prospect and has the effect of bidding us to join the performance with him. Even though the guitarists still move to the wings during the second verse this seems less distracting today, there’s still plenty of focus on the singer.
It all builds to a golden shower of pyro and a death drop to finish. Bravo!
This shot to second in the betting after the first rehearsal. I would be happy with this as a winner, but I have to remember most viewers don’t have that Sanremo bounce. Is the style one that can win? Italy has notched up some great results with songs I didn’t think would appeal so this could be in with a shot.
