UK – first rehearsal report here

Our home boy James is at it again. Today the trumpets seem to stay suspended for a little longer before coming to floor level, and this looks better. There are some improvements with lighting, including moments where the room now does light up in sync with the lyric. A camera shot that catches James galumphing down from the podium (I’m a big boy too, we’re not always dainty) is corrected by the final repetition.

I do like this, I really do. Though now we’re able to judge against all the songs and how they’re going to be presented on stage I am worried that this isn’t going to fall into many jury top 10s, and therefore not score many jury points, though I imagine it would fall around many juries’ 12th to 15th rather than languishing at the bottom.  Eurovision maths is a beast, and that just won’t cut it.

James seems to be having a great time though. I hope he embraces every moment this joyful event has to offer, including whatever result it serves him up. There really is more to it than the competitive element.

EDIT: there’s a late cock up as the third run through gets underway, where the audio feed is not the sound of the song. We hear some distorted voices and what sounds like a crying baby. Thankfully, this is quickly stopped and corrected for easily the best of the three tries today.
