After a late late night – Ireland have chosen…

Wild Youth

Well after Johnny Rotten snubbed our chums at Eurovision Ireland at the press day for Eurosong 2023 – the Irish put six acts on stage for Europe to guffaw at!

The five acts that aren’t Johnny also competed for the ticket across the water to Liverpool in May. The Irish did absolutely nothing to change the format which has failed them for the last few years – there were a panel of experts, Ryan Turbridy presenting and, thankfully, no odious little men – though that would have cheered me up whilst watching this snoozefest.

Speaking following their victorious performance Wild Youth singer Conor O’Donohoe described it as a huge honour to be selected to represent Ireland on the world stage later this year.

He said: “We hope everyone gets behind the song and we hope everyone gets behind us.

“We have been around for a while and we wanted to take a risk. Everyone who performed tonight has a great future ahead of them.”
