Meet Lumo, the official Mascot of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. No seriously, this is actually a thing. You can buy merch and everything.
Lumo was designed by Lynn Brunner, a student at the Basel Academy of Art and Design (FHNW).
Designed as part of a competition in which 1,100 students from Basel Academy of Art and Design FHNW and the Basel School of Design were invited to submit their creative ideas, Lumo has now been brought to life and will be walking the streets of Basel in May to greet visitors to the Eurovision Song Contest.
It’s not an M&M undercover at KFC. Shut up.
Reception
Feedback from fandom is best described as ‘mixed’. The Guardian newspaper (UK) described Lumo as ‘The love child of Mick Hucknall and Crazy Frog’, and asked if Eurovision’s Lumo might be the worst mascot ever.
BlueSky reactions included ‘I want to kill him with a rock’ and ‘When I say that artists like Tommy Cash and Joost can say/sing all the shit they want about #Eurovision, cause nobody destroys it and its image more than the incompetent pricks in charge.’
Not quite the big hoorah, the Gnomes of Geneva might have hoped for, then.
The runners up
Oh, and because there are always those who never quite made it to the party, let’s have a look at what you could have won…
