Norway’s public broadcaster, NRK, has added its voice to the growing chorus of European broadcasters calling for a review of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025’s televoting process. This follows widespread controversy over Israel’s second-place finish, fuelled by an overwhelming public vote that has raised eyebrows across the continent.

NRK has stated its intention to engage in discussions regarding the contest’s rules and voting procedures, expressing concerns that the current system may not be beneficial for the competition’s credibility and fairness. This move aligns NRK with other European broadcasters seeking greater transparency in the contest’s voting process.

The controversy centres on Israel’s entry, Yuval Raphael, who secured 297 points from the public televote—the highest of the evening—despite receiving only 60 points from the juries. Reports have emerged that Israeli support groups encouraged individuals to vote multiple times, potentially up to 20 times each, raising questions about the fairness of the televoting process.

In response to these concerns, broadcasters such as RTVE (Spain), VRT (Belgium), RTÉ (Ireland), Yle (Finland), RÚV (Iceland), and RTVSLO (Slovenia) have called for audits or discussions about the televoting results and Israel’s inclusion.

NRK’s decision to join this group underscores the growing demand for the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to address these issues and ensure the contest’s integrity.
