Eurovision under-achiever San Marino has selected their representative for the 2019 contest. Valentina gets to stay home and paint her nails. This year it’s the turn of 54-year-old Turkish singer Serhat.
He last got to tread the Eurovision boards in 2016 when ‘I didn’t know‘ ended 12th in a semi-final and failed to make the Saturday night show. An unlikely camp remix featuring former Weather Girl Martha Walsh saw the song feature in the US Billboard dance charts a year later.
The official line is that he was hard at work on a new album when the call came from San Marino RTV. He jumped at the chance, saying: “San Marino is always in my heart, our friendship lasts forever and ESC 2016 was probably one of the best memories of my career. Despite my tight schedule, it didn’t take me long to decide. I am very proud to represent San Marino for the second time”.
Details of the song will follow.
