It’s time to look to the future I say and by that I mean ” What the FUCK are you gonna do in the next 12 months to make OnEurope even better for your slightly mentalist clientèle”, I hear you ask me?
Well … first off a bit of background. We had a really great Eurovision, and I mean REALLY great. Most of the things we did were well received, we discovered the power of the book of Face and, overall, we did right well and most of the time, had a fab time doing it which made the whiney comments of some people that never regularly read our drivel really stick in my throat. I think it was RDH of this website that told me that if you get people talking then you must be doing something right, and not everyone will agree with you. Well, he got that damn right!!
You’ll have noticed a lack of Video blogs after the first couple of days, principally because the “Why are you doing this and not attending every rehearsal and writing about everything” actually hurt me. Yes, peoples of Europe, even your slightly older than the average Eurovision fan nowadays, has a heart and feelings!!. This site, here since 1999, has never pandered to poularity. We’re not Euro.tv, we’re not wiwibloggs, we’re not ESCToday and we never were or will be. We will tell you what is happening, but my god, we’re there to have fun too. The contest allows me, and our team, to not only service and furnish you with all you need to know, but inject a little FUN into proceedings. There are plenty of other sites on the menu if you want to read what the Lithuanian backing singers underwear colour is, how many times the Icelanders swear before they go on stage and you too can see banal interviews with artistes that have been asked the same pandering questions by everyone on the web. Not here… You’ll see and hear and read the views of 3-4-5 ordinary Joe’s… and yes, we’re not journalists… but for the two weeks that matter to us, we are classified exactly the same as everyone else and get to look and see things and report them back to you. Not everything will be complimentary because not everything is good ( though depending on the site you read, you might think it!!) and we will continue not to shy away from this.
Now, having got that out of my system, how are we going to build on what we have? – Well…. We’re gonna cover the JESC from a potentially cold and snowy Bulgaria… accreditation permitting and, whilst that may not be your cup of soup either, it’s here to stay and it will expand. We’re gonna continue to give you the same NF service and the results service that we have prided ourselves on for the last 16 years. We’re not gonna write pointless stories, run pointless polls et al, but we will, real life permitting, give you the information you need to know. We’re gonna keep the blog updated with Birthdays and thoughts and stuff so feel free to dip in and out and take what you want, a bit like a bumblebee! We should be in Sweden as well, which will be nice, so expect more of the same.
To those old chums that are sticking with us, thank you, I really appreciate your loyalty and comments. For those new people, welcome to OnEurope, always un PC, always honest, never afraid to have an opinion. We hope you enjoy your stay!
