There’s an award handed out each year to the Eurovision act deemed to have made the biggest fashion faux pas. It’s named after Belgian singer Barbara Dex, who represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 1993 wearing a self-made, semi-transparent dress.
It hasn’t stopped the 45-year-old singer from opening a clothing store – Babs – in Antwerp. “This new challenge is a youth dream coming true”, she told the local newspaper, who printed a photo (see above) of her dressed in something worthy of the Eurovision stage.
In 2019, Portuguese singer Conan Osíris was awarded the Barbra Dex Award.
