No no, panic not regular readers of this site, I haven’t gone on the turn. It’s just that our apartment is near the feral cat neighbourhood and, as such, there is more pussy that you can shake a stick at.
Our flights were ok – Lufthansa via Frankfurt which is THE WORST airport in the world for changing terminals. We had a gate to ourselves eventually, but it says in small tiny writing that there are no facilities at C13 … so after a 20 minute trudge from the eateries, we had a 20 minute trudge back.
Customs
On landing at Tel Aviv, we sailed through almost nothing. The border control guards asked me what I was here for.
“Eurovision,” says I proudly.
Not a shimmer passed across her face. “As fan?”
“No, as Press.” (Hoping amongst hope that would be enough).
She then RINGS the bloke in the next booth.
“Have you got a badge?”
“No, I’m getting it tomorrow.”
Cue more calls and confusion, until she finally let me enter the country!
Also, for those coming here, go to Exit 3, where the official taxi dispatcher is located. We clearly upset a scam artist who asked 250 NIS for a taxi, when the official one costs 170 NIS.
Apartmentwise, it’s all good. Wifi and beer … what more could we want?
