LIVE BLOG – Eurovision 2019 Jury Show

Expo for Eurovision

It’s the second biggest night of the Eurovision year. Tonight all 26 songs get to perform to a packed hall as national juries watch and award their votes. 50% of the final score depends on what happens tonight – it’s the score that gets read out in the first half of the vote tomorrow.

I’ll be around – just like on Monday and Wednesday, doing my level best to see the show through the eyes of a typical juror, awarding my points based on the ‘so-called “Green Document“‘.

I’d love your company, so chat along below in the comment box.

The show starts at 8pm UK time (9pm CET).

And

That's all from me tonight.   Hope you have enjoyed or endured what I have written so, until tomorrow when Mo takes you through the Final.  Shalom from here.

And finally

Australia's performance ended, Spain's Postcard was played...

Then back to the Greenroom for more chat....

And now.... Spain

Miki is certainly giving it some but he sounds like he is shouting a lot at the start and it sounds like that there was a problem with the backing mix because all of a sudden the vocals of the backing singers went really low and the song loses all of the momentum it had.   He seems to find it again after about two minutes though.

There is laughing in the press centre and I fear that is what Europe will do when they see this song as well.   It's not televoter  friendly at all and is more aiming at the Jury.  Kate's voice is holding up well to the rigours of being on the end of a bendy straw but, as I have said all along, it is a one trick pony and runs out of ideas after 2 minutes and is very repetitive and grating.

Gets a loud cheer as he comes on stage which hardly dies down.

Dear SSR-SSG  your artist has put in a virtually flawless performance of a lyrically dodgy song but by christ it looks good and he has hit all of his marks and notes.    I'd gear up those preparations for 2020vision if I were you - after you have recovered from the heart attack!

This is how you aggressively sell a song to all and sundry.  You might not know all the words but, frankly, you shouldn't care because this is a song that transends language.  Chalk and Cheese with France.

Lots of things wrong with the French song.  Poor Vocal, bad shots on TV.  Straining vocal from Bilal all over the shop.  In fact, hideous wouldn't be too bad a word to describe it.

Chingiz shoes Zena, and some of the others,  how to stage a very repetitive song.  It looks spot on and they even get the effect right.   As we have said before it's more of a groove than a song and he hits all the right notes in the right order.  Helpful.

Sorry, was having internet difficulties after Estonia.   He was straining on the high notes.

As, indeed, is Zena.   She is vocally all over the place as are the backing dancers.   This smacks of a bad audition at a talent show.   I'm struggling to say that *this* is better than Germany.
