As we know, Eurovision throws up performances as well as songs. Do they detract, or does a song need some form of gimmick to do well? St Salvador of Sobral didn’t think so, but they do sometimes help.
If your gimmick was a Coronavirus-shaped glitter ball, would that be a good thing? Well, if your song was a nice slow ballad, then maybe not. But if you were singing a classic dance along song it would be the perfect accompaniment. Today’s birthday boy Deen (né Fuad Backović) has done other Eurovisiony stuff since, but this song featuring him, his pet Covid and a selection of ladies was his finest hour.
