Despite having the most repulsive government in central Europe, Poland know how to play Eurovision and some day soon they are going to win this contest. Be it silicon-enhanced milkmaids or mulleted crooners, they know what it takes.

The Poles have made my words dry up!

Poland appears after a short hiatus for us to calm down after Demy.  Kasia and her very dodgy rhyming dictionary (Fire, desire, higher and wire in one run… kudos to you!!) then came on stage with a ballad of the 80’s and 90’s.

Kasia on stageThe vocals that Kasia puts out here are very strong indeed and there is only a backing violinist on stage for company with her – which is possibly all that she needs. The stage is very blue and has the word “Freedom” on the background at some point in the song (towards the end if I remember rightly).

To be deadly honest, there is not a lot about this song that you can say. It’s big and ballsy and grabs you by the throat and says “Vote for me” – which is better than the Greek song.

Words have failed me but, ‘Flashlight’ is decent and also has a very long note at the end which guarantees the gays!

    14 January – It’s gonna be better

Today’s title sums things up. Are you feeling a bit down? Thinking that some things will never pick up for you? Well just think that there’s always someone worse off that you. Living where I do, it’s usually me. Seriously, there’s a bright side to everything, and you can triumph out of any adverse situation. As with today’s birthday girl. She had the world before her, and then she had a bad accident. Many a weaker person would curl up and give up. Monika Kuszyńska only came back and made it to Europe’s favourite TV show. You can tell that she’s so so happy to be there. And it provides a lesson that, if you want to do something, you can do it. Here endeth the lesson.

    Monika is 37 today.

    Wszystkiego najlepszego, Monika!

    14 December – I’m a spark, a gasp of wind

Is there a song lyric out there that really speaks to you? We can all see the profundity of ‘Bailar el chiki chiki’. And as for ‘Zwei kleiner Italiener’, there are theses that can be written about that song. Where am I going with this, you may ask? I’m not totally sure, apart a song that sounds like another song. No, it’s not ‘We’ve got the world tonight’. It’s the fine ‘Ale jestem’ by today’s birthday girl, which sounds like, well, you tell me. Maybe Scandinavian tree product is the clue.

    Anna Maria is 46 today.

    Wszystkiego najlepszego, Anna Maria

Is it time for a world without borders?

You love our random videos, or so I’m led to believe. With that in mind, I’ve picked a bilingual song that’s a little out of the ordinary. For starters, English isn’t one of the languages involved. Intrigued? The act has represented its country more than once. Still intrigued? Our lead singer Michał Wiśniewski has a unique voice and a nice line in coloured hair. The act of course is Ich Troje with one of the finest songs you’ll ever here. A cohort of mine even has it as his favourite Eurovision song of all time..
