10 February – Give a kick to my sadness

What to do with your life once you’ve been a Eurovision performer? Well, you could try again. But then you risk doing worse on your second attempt than your first. Or you go into writing. That means if things go badly you can blame the performer. Or you could try a different role.

Today’s birthday girl Sandra Simò (now Studer) did her stuff in 1991. She didn’t fancy trying again, as she may have thought that it would type-cast her. So instead she moved into presenting. She can offer the voice of experience without the stress of winning (or losing). If only Carola would take note.

Sandra is 49 today.

Frohe Geburtstag/Bonne anniversaire/Buon compleanno, Sandra!
