3 February – The pain is gone

It’s always hoped that a good song, a popular song, will score well. Especially if it’s well-performed by a seasoned singer who can turn their hand to anything.

Eurovision attracts singers of all ages, and it’s good to see more mature ones mixing it with the teenagers, for who their song was probably the biggest thing they’ve ever done. Today’s birthday girl Willeke Alberti (née Willy Albertina Verbrugge) did her stuff with a song that’s popular in many quarters. Except Eurovision juries it seems. She received four points, all from Austria. Maybe it’s just the Viennese jurors had taste, where no-one else did. Anyways, Willeke, we still love you.

Willeke is 74 today.

Gefeliciteerd, Willeke!
