In my country there’s a river that runs non-stop

Did you enjoy the choons picked over the weekend? The sublime Koit & Laura? The loony Ilinca & Alex. Or the pretty little melody from Salvador? They are all good in their own way, and one of these countries is after its second victory with the others after their first.

Portugal has tried 48 times without success, so I’m plugging one of their songs today. For a country that does have a singing tradition (as well as a sardine tradition, but we won’t dwell on that) it’s odd they’ve only achieved a sixth place. To make up for that, here’s a jaunty little number from 1987. It’s Alfredo Azinheira and Jorge Mendes (Nevada), aided by Carla Burity, Fernanda Lopes, and two guys with guitar-like things.
