Is Eurovision a young person’s game? Well, the junior that happens in November definitely is. But do you have to be a fresh-faced and eager teenager or twenty-something to get the most out of our favourite TV show?
Of course, there’s no discrimination on the stage. Today’s birthday boy Дино Мерлин/Dino Merlin (né Един Дервишхалидовић/Edin Dervišhalidović) was nearly 50 when he did his stuff in 2011 in Düsseldorf. Can you believe that? Nearly 50. I jest, as many singers have been older than that. But our Dino made the most of his maturity, singing about his children, and how life is generally OK. You may think that’s quite a dull subject, but when you think about what his country went through, he’s got every right to celebrate his life. Europe agreed, as Dino finished sixth, and got the most maxima in the Grand Final. Even more than the winners. Good old Dino!
Dino is 57 today.
Srecan rodjendan, Dino!
