18 October – I’m voting for beer

Has the title of today’s post drawn you in? Go on, admit it. You’ve seen one of those words (beer if you’re not sure) and are wondering which song from down the years could possibly contain this line. Well, it was this song that gave its country the chance of winning the following year. If Portugal – who finished above this song – had decided to participate the following year, then this country wouldn’t have won. And we might have been in Belgium.

Have I lost you yet, or are you still intrigued by the beer? Anyway, it’s because of birthday boy Arnis Mednis that Latvia won in Tallinn. Indirectly, naturally.

Arnis is 56 today.

Daudz laimes, Arnis!
