Bryndza. Sunday again, so here’s something that might ease you back into the working week with more of a spring in your step. When it’s dark, cold and Novembrish, you need something to lift the spirits. And what could be better than a jolly song with a bounce that will make you smile. Or my name isn’t …
Back in 1975, we saw today’s birthday boy Renato Micallef breaking new ground for the Med’s happiest rock. In their previous two attempts, Maltese singers had sung in the Maltese language. They’d both come last. He tried his luck in English and managed to finish 12th. For some in Malta though, it wasn’t enough, and we wouldn’t see his country back for 16 years.
Renato is 66 today.
Happy birthday/Għeluq sninek it-tajjeb, Renato!
