22 September – It’s sufficient to choose one, there’s a fortune hidden in it

It’s a big birthday for someone who sang for a little country. A tiny country. A country you could probably fit into your pocket. Needless to say, due to its small population, hardly any natives of this country actually sang for them. Today’s birthday girl is no exception.

She represented the Principality of Monaco way back in the 1960s, when some of us weren’t even born. Birthday girl Colette Deréal‘s (née Colette Denise de Glarélial’s) song was in French – naturally. And she wasn’t that far from the country she was representing. This is a jolly little number for your Friday viewing pleasure. Sadly Ms Deréal died in 1988.

Colette would have been 90 today.
