I know you love a song that crosses the boundaries of our different tastes, and is something that can do no wrong. Today must fit that bill if any song can.
It has almost everything. Three songwriters, of which two are legends. Six singers, each renowned in their own little ways. Three languages to satisfy any polyglot. And it all comes from the greatest contest of all time. The effective co-lead vocalist of the six was today’s birthday girl Margo (née Annemieke Verdoorn). As you can see, French wasn’t her first language, but since when has Luxembourg used singers from the Grand Duchy? Despite the enormity of this song, it only finished 13th. What were the juries thinking?
Margo is 63 today.
