I know from you all that there’s nothing wrong with a bit of vintage. I don’t mean 1995. It may be vintage for some, but some of us saw it live. I’m talking about good old black & white. It did exist you know. We must remember our heritage from time to time, after all. So when we think of today’s sets with their flashing lights and hidden lifts in the stage, we sometimes forget there was a time with a minimal set and orchestra. This leads up to the contest from 50 years ago, from sunny Naples. Denmark sent Brigit (Thielemann) Brüel. She sang in Danish (remember that?) and finished on what would be the left-hand side of the scoreboard these days. But uniquely in 1965 the scoreboard consisted of a line indicating a points total. Look on Y*u*u*e if you’re unsure. Sadly, Birgit died in 1996 but she would have been 88 today.
