ESC birthdays 8/12 – Today I will mostly be wearing pink

Danish heart

Here’s a song from a country whose success has been wobbly over the years. They even decided not to send songs for some years in the 1960s and 1970s. Yep, the contest even took place back then. But Denmark has had it a little better lately, and won in Murmur. Deservedly? You decide. Anyways, in 1991 they didn’t have such a good time and that singer was Anders Frandsen. He’s sadly no longer with us, after dying early in 2012. This may not have been the high point of his life, but finishing 19th didn’t dent his popularity in his home country. Anders would have been 55 today.
