It seems odd in these days of dominance by Scandinavia and states of central and eastern Europe that our favourite TV show was once a decidely western European affair. Year after year it would be won by countries of the Francophone or Anglophone natures. Then something happened and they seemed to lose the plot. France and the UK of stuff still get straight through to the Grand Final, because of their gravitas even if they can’t achieve high results now. So in a nod to these halcyon days, here is the last Frence winner of the contest sung by DR Congo-born Marie (Lopes) Myriam. Marie is 58 today.
Bonne anniversaire, Marie!
A classic, though time has not been kind to this song.
Nevertheless it’s still a very simple and effective song. And she sing it top noch 🙂
