Eurovision birthdays 14/11 – Pray for a good result tomorrow night

I sometimes wonder about the free-language rule in place at Eurovision. It’s good that it makes song more widely available. It
makes a level playing field. But it also means the contest loses some of the diversity we grew to love up until the 1990s. So in this English-dominated world, it’s good that, just occasionally, a good song not in English won. That honour goes to Марија Шерифовић/Marija Šerifović and her fine, fine song. Maybe Junior Eurovision has the right language rule in place after all. Marija is 30 today.

Срећан рођендан, Марија!
