So you decide you want to perform in Europe’s favourite TV show. You get through to a televised national final. You pick a nice new outfit and treat that camera as your best friend. It’s your best ever work. But the voting public/jury don’t like you. So you come back year after year until one time you ride your luck and get through? Is it your best every song? Maybe not. Do you still give it everything? Of course. Well in my humble opinion, that happened to Karmen Stavec. Še in še was a tour de force that won a televote by a mile. Sadly it wasn’t to be. but she came back the next year with a song that I thought contained the line ‘It was a warmish summer night’. Karmen is 41 today.
