I like the Finns, especially at this time of year, as they know the true meaning of SAD (or Kaamosmasennus as they call it). They are a riot when they visit my country too – maybe it’s because they can get away from those dark dark days. With Eurovision, occasionally they have used the services of foreign-born individuals. Such as Viktor Klimenko, who was a Karelian by birth, but made Finland his home. He tried out in our favourite TV show in 1965 but didn’t do that well. Viktor is 72 today.
