What’s this? No winner’s birthday today? Nope, but there must be something in the air towards the end of October. Anyway, here’s a little song about migrant workers. They say there’s nothing new in the world, and it seems true that in the 1960s, Italians were working abroad and wanted to be back home. These days it’s my Latvian cousin Rīga Ametnike and Irish uncle Riigi O’Metnik who work away somewhere – they won’t tell me where. In 1962, Conny Froboess sang about Tina and Marina who were stuck in Germany. Conny is 71 today.
Alles Gute zum Geburtstag, Conny!
