Spain has only hosted the contest once. Who of you was around in 1969? I most definitely wasn’t, but those technicians who like the medium of colour TV were. But 1969 is not memorable for a contest in colour. Or a contest in a dictatorship. But for a contest that had so many winners they didn’t know what to do. If we were using one of the various countback systems like we do today, Spain and France scored off nine countries, the UK of stuff eight and Netherlands, The only seven. So picking a winner may still be problematic today. But one of those winners was Marie McDonald McLaughlin Lawrie, thankfully known as Lulu. Lulu is 66 today.
Happy birthday, Lulu!
