Were the 1980s the best decade of our favourite TV show? No semi-finals, a regular supply of entrants (barring an exception or two), and a show crammed into less than three hours. And most importantly, no televoters sticking their fingers in where juries know best. But what hasn’t changed is some countries sending big stars. In 1988, the French sent Gérard Lenorman – a man who wrote songs for Brigitte Bardot I understand. Gérard is 70 today.
Bonne Anniversaire, Gérard!
