I’m in a small minority liking the Bulgarian entry. Most people suggest that Miro is smug, slightly too orange and has put on weight but I think this contest is about due a bit of a dance out by this point as there’s way too many ballads and tales of woe going on.
Vocally good with a troupe of dancers behind, two of whom start off wearing blessed wings once again. For a continent that’s had problems taking off the last few weeks there seem to be an abundance of wings here in Oslo and I don’t mean the kind ladies wear to be discreet.
It’s a bit repetitive and ends rather too abruptly but I’m finding it refreshing in a “your on your own” kind of way.
On the basis of what I’ve seen so far it’s borderline qualification. If it’s done Romania 2006-like it’ll affect Ireland’s chances but it’s not up to that standard at the mo.
More wings of a dove than choirs of angels at the moment.
Nick: Miro’s looking like a rather chunky young chap on stage here. I’m getting a bit of a Bosnia 2004 vibe, if slightly less pink. It’s all going to be very white on stage here, complete with a certain amount of fabric (or possibly microwave cooking wrap) being waved around in the early part of the song.
A switch into English mid-song is being trialled and looks like it could be the preferred option. Not particularly impressed with the English language version (cf: Israel yesterday – some songs make you feel that you really need to understand what’s being sung, some songs you’d be happier if you didn’t). It’s a groove, it’s listenable, I wouldn’t skip past it on shuffle… it just doesn’t seem to do enough to make me vote it through.
