This song is 2012’s Azeri entry. You could transplant that song and this one and you’d never notice the difference. A wolf’s in sheep’s clothing perchance? Or a fruit pretending to be a cake.
It has the staging of a song that is really really trying so hard to be “clean” and “kosher” that it has morphed into something else. It has the stained glass window background (which is the first genuine WOW moment of this song) a Trapeze Artist, an ethnic instrumentalist and minimal choreography which,on the face of it, should make this song good. However, I’m just a bit tainted with all of the Azeri stories to think that Dilara has turned this silk purse into a sows ear in a cynical attempt to get back into the EBU‘s good books. Yes….. but they have done a good job at it.
Again, as with almost all of the entries today, not a note missed because of the 10 mins beforehand getting the levels ready means that the singing has already been ironed out and that’s a good thing as we dont have to go through the dreariness of the sound check!
“kosher”?-I wouldn’t dare eating what they serve
