Sometimes when I’m picking a birthday song, it makes me feel old. I’ve been watching contests since 19xx so have seen a few acts in my time. And some of them are a lot older now than I thought they were.
Today’s song ceoms from 1994, when we were on the biggest ever stage (at the time) in Dublin. It made me wonder why they neededsuch a big stage when only six people are allowed on it per song. And then came Riverdance… Anyway, today’s birthday girl Petra Frey was only 16 when she sang on that stage. She’d found her feet by 2003 when she tried again. But the casual viewer will only ever remember Petra ‘Petrified’ Frey.
Petra is 40 today.
