We’ve said it before, but some Eurovision performers can’t get enough of it. Some stop when they’ve finally made it to the bit time. Some just keep going… Maybe stopping at one appearance is the way to go.
Today’s birthday girl Maja Blagdan was in with Croatia right from the start, in those early days back in 1993. Undaunted by the early knockback, she eventually got there in 1996. It wasn’t plain sailing in the audio preselection for Oslo, and she was a fair way down the list. But she steeled herself and only went and finished fourth on that mid-May night. Her country has equalled that position once, but never beaten it. Maybe she didn’t win, but Maja can take comfort in the fact she scored off more juries than the three countries beat her. Truly a popular bunny around Europe.
Maja is 53 today.
Sretan rođendan, Maja!
