That “missing” contest from 2020 will always be an enigma. “Who would have won?”, “How would the hosts have done?”, and “Who would have been the surprise non-qualifier?” are all questions we’ve asked since that time.
One of that Class of 2020 who wasn’t selected for 2021 was today’s birthday boy Sandro (né Alessandro Heinrich Rütten). He’s also been know by the stage names Sandro Nicolas, Sammy Clay, TYLR and Leo Dante. We hope he can leave some stage names for someone else. Anyway, Sandro’s song broke a run of similar-sounding songs sung by scantily-clad ladies with energetic choreography. He himself was a sort-of-false-flagger, hailing from Germany so only being partly Greek. His is one of those songs you may not hear very often these days, perhaps because it was very un-Cypriot. So maybe he needs some more publicity, under whatever name he’s singing under this month.
Sandro is 28 today.
