Several decades late, seemingly, Cyprus have taken to the press conference arena – fashionably late (or Italian as Mr Phil now likes to call it).
Descriptions of the staging suggest Andromache will emerge from a shell on stage like Venus (Goddess on a mountain top?) and it wasn’t deliberate at all oh-dear-me-no. When asked about the colour scheme, she said that the colours are “Mediterranean”(Whatever that means!) and evocative of a great fantasy.
Her favourite Greek goddess? – Aphrodite of course, you fools! Would it be anyone else? What has she learnt about herself through the Eurovision journey? She says she did not know that she was an organiser as she was not good with time management, but the chemistry of her team has made this all happen.
Warming up
Her routine before she sings is that she goes to the gym (apart from yesterday) – working out and warming up – a good vocal warmup is, apparently, essential, including some trills after all the other exercises as it stretches her vocals. She also hydrates, but not that much, and she drinks through a straw (this is the in-depth contest content you really want – admit it!).
She studied German theology in Athens which she did not finish because she was ill (or a slacker, jury literally still out) – it moved conversation onto the fact she was born in Germany and lived there till the age of nine. She thinks that she has some pressure on her shoulders to get a good result, but as everyone is so different, they have their own beauty and a special voice and aura and she hopes that she will make Cyprus and her family and friends proud. I think she went to a diplomatic class right after the German theology one.
Apparently, she is bringing something “Ethnic” to the contest – Andromache thinks that it is nice to bring something of a national flavour to the Contest. She also likes to sleep in late, apparently, so hates the early starts!
