Some countries haven’t sent many performers to our favourite TV show. So when one comes along, it’s only right that we celebrate it. Even more so when it’s one of those special birthdays that end in a zero.
Back in 2015, we were in Vienna, and the neighbouring Czechs sent a duo of two musical heavyweights. The male half was today’s birthday boy Václav Noid Bárta, and he and his pal Marta sang a really big song that involved show throwing. A unique event on the stage we’re sure. Hopes were high that our twosome would become the first Czech finalists. They finished 13th in their semi-final, but they did become the first Czech act to score double figures, and become broadcaster ČT’s best-ever finish. They also laid the groundwork for what happened in 2016.
Vaclav is 40 today.
