Eurovision, for all its brightness and glamour, has the odd dark corner tucked away that people rarely venture into. There are other dark corners that some will keenly venture into, but that’s another story.
One such less-visited dark corner is a qualifying round in 1996. Juries got together and heard (they didn’t see) a whole bunch of acts. The lucky ones got to spend heaps of cash in Oslo. Seven acts didn’t get to Oslo, and one of them featured today’s birthday boy Martin Loft. For the learnèd among you, you’ll know he got together with Dorthe Andersen and represented Denmark. At least, they hoped to. They didn’t miss out by much, and scored points from more juries that beat them. Anyway, Denmark have had a fair few duets in their time, and this one maybe didn’t deserve to miss the cut.
Martin is 50 today.
Tillykke med fødselsdagen, Martin!
