29 January – We were walking in old Bruxelles

I mentioned yesterday that songs had certain themes. Usually involving love. And, thankfully, very rarely about domestic abuse. But there are certain get outs you can use if you’re stuck as a song-writer.

That’s why today’s song uses one of those fall-backs. If you’re missing a lyric to last three minutes, include geographical references. It never fails. People will listen to the song and hope that their country/city/street gets a shout out. It’s a banker for votes. This happened to today’s birthday boy Liam Reilly. By mentioning lots of places, he managed to come equal second. Yeah, it’s second [equal], but it’s better then third – or below.

Liam is 64 today.

Happy birthday/Lá breithe sásta, Liam!
