Today I’ve picked on one of those big stars for whom Eurovision was just a simple sideline. He won’t be the only one who does this sort of thing. Many a star of stage and screen has spent three minutes on a Eurovision stage, failing to win but then having the last laugh.
The birthday boy – Colm ‘C T’ Wilkinson – opened the 1978 contest in Paris and gave us a performance to remember. There were no costume changes or sparkly outfits. Just a man singing a song. A man who was, to coin a phrase, born to sing. And he has. For over 40 years since Paris.
Colm is 74 today.
Happy birthday/Lá breithe sásta, Colm!
