The performance. It’s always about the performance. Or is it? You have three minutes to make yourself stand out from the crowd of many many other songs. You need to catch that elusive televoter’s eye.
It has to be said that today we have the birthday of some of definitely definitely caught the eye. So much so that that performance would captivate and, perchance, enchant the casual viewers into voting for Ireland. It is, of course, the birthday of the unique Bambie Thug (née Bambie Ray Robinson). This is the highest-finishing Ireland since the dark days of 2000, that were also in Sweden of all places. Bambie not only finished third in that first semi-final, even without a single maximum. In the Grand Final, Bambie got more or less an equal score from the juries and the televote, and even got a maximum. Is Bambie the saviour of Ireland? Probably. Crown the witch.
Bambie is 32 today.
