Yesterday I briefly mention our friends in Italy. Well, as you may know, their relationship with our favourite Tv show has been up and down. They had the big gap between 1997 and 2011 and concentrated on their beloved Sanremo instead.
Before 1997, we’d previously seen Italy in 1993, when we were way out west in Ireland. Birthday boy Enrico Ruggeri went all moody with his leather jacket and trousers. He didn’t make top 10, but the next time Italy was out of the top 10 was 21 years later! Anyway, opening a contest is never easy, but he still got two sets of ten points.
Enrico is 62 today.
