Do you ever wonder what it’s like to be the member of a duo that’s not quite the headliner? The side-kick, if you will. Some maybe don’t like the limelight, but as important as their partner-in-crime.
In 1997, our friends in Italy took part for the last time for a few years. They sent a duo in the form of Jalisse, and the instrumentalist was today’s birthday boy Fabio Ricci. He did join in with the singing when necessary, but was otherwise happy to let pal Alessandra do the bulk of the visible work. They did do enough to finish fourth, and maybe any other year the crown would have been Jalisse’s. But if that had happened, what would RAI have done? Sent the entry forms in in 1998, or continued with their long absence? Many fans enjoyed this song, and still do.
Fabio is 60 today.
