Latvia’s journey towards Eurovision 2026 officially has started with the submission window for Supernova officially open.

Artists, songwriters, and producers have until 1 October 2025 to submit their tracks via Latvia’s public broadcaster, LSM.lv. Entries are open to solo performers, duos, and groups of up to six members, who must bring original songs to the table. As with other submission selections, songs cannot have been publicly released, performed, or broadcast before 1 September 2025.

Supernova’s track record has seen Latvia experiment widely – from electro-pop to heartfelt ballads. This year, folk-pop group Tautumeitas presented their ethno-ballad “Bur man laimi,” landing Latvia a none-too-shabby 13th place finish.

International participation is encouraged, albeit with a catch: at least 51% of the song’s copyright must remain in Latvian hands. Good luck proving that if you tip up with a song camp reject from a ten-strong team.

A jury of industry experts, including musicians, entertainment specialists, and international representatives, will review submissions, selecting entries based on creativity, marketability, vocal strength, and stage presence.

Those successful will progress to two live televised semi-finals (31 January and 7 February), each featuring up to ten acts. Five will qualify from each heat, along with a wildcard for the Supernova Final on 14 February 2026.
