Lithuania debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 and has since become known for its eclectic and genre-diverse entries. Despite a slow start and multiple non-qualifications, Lithuania’s best result came in 2006 with LT United’s We Are the Winners, which finished sixth and became a fan favourite for its playful and unconventional approach.
The country’s most successful recent entry was On Fire by The Roop in 2020, which was widely considered a strong contender before the contest was canceled due to the pandemic. The Roop returned in 2021 with Discoteque, finishing eighth—Lithuania’s second-best result to date.
Lithuania’s national selection, Pabandom iš naujo! (formerly Eurovizijos Atranka), is known for its extensive format, showcasing a mix of pop, indie, rock, and electronic music. Lithuania often opts for English-language songs to appeal to a broader audience, with entries characterised by catchy hooks, distinctive staging, and a willingness to experiment.
Balancing mainstream appeal with quirky and memorable performances, Lithuania’s Eurovision strategy focuses on high-energy acts and modern pop sounds, maintaining its reputation as a fan-favorite and an unpredictable contender.
