We have our fair share of ballads, floor-fillers and other songs with very carefully crafted lyrics, designed to reel in the casual voter and make them decide that melody is the best.
Or, you could bounce onto stage, wear something utterly brilliant, and sing a song that deserves to get bundles of points from all over the place. That utterly brilliant song came from today’s birthday boy Andres ‘Dries’ Holten. He paired up with the late Sandra Reemer to close the contest of 1972, when things were very different in Eurovision circles. However, I’d wager that his song would do very well today.
Andres is 83 today.
Gefelciteerd, Anders!
