15 June – There was a strong feeling to be young and free

As I may have said on previous occasions, there are many performers out there who try year after year to make it to that hallowed Eurovision stage. Endless national finals they go through, before they eventually win that ticket.

You may be thinking of someone Maltese perhaps. But no. Today’s birthday boy definitely isn’t from southern Europe. It’s Tor Lars Oskar Endresen. He tried seven times before he won the Norsk Melodi Grand Prix in 1997. And what happened in Dublin? He didn’t score a single point. Now he was in good company, as another country also got the same score. And Tor wasn’t too disheartened – he tried four more times, without success.

Tor is 59 today.

Gratulerer med dagen, Tor!
