Nick: OK, so here’s the thought stream, coming en direct from the middle of my brain.
Meh. Still dull. Ooh. Wait a minute though. Ohhhh… that’s a nice note. That’s a nice shot. Ooh, runaround camera. OOHHHHH! Oh wow! That’s the winner! Oh, but wait, it’s on third. Yeah, but there are juries. But juries might not like it. But televoters might still. But it’s on third. But voting starts from the beginning this year. What difference will that make? If any? Who actually votes for things like this anyway? Well, the Norwegian public did anyway, didn’t they? Yeah, but they’re Norwegian.
N.E.Wayyyyy… even I think that looks like a surefire top 5 today. Not sure how many I’ve got in my surefire top 5 now. Probably about 15.
Phil: …. I am still not feeling this -Didrik Solli-Tangen connects to the camera but he makes me want to walk the 100 yards from my desk to the stage, slap him, and say, “Stop being so … so … dramatic!!”.
It is Titanic/Irish Ballads/Cyndi by numbers. He’s playing for the jury vote in the same way that the UK did last year – and thats not a bad constituency to go for, but there are televotes to go with this as well – and I really can’t imagine any right thinking Icelandic Housewife covered in volcanic ash actually saying to herself (in Icelandic, clearly) “That’s the best song, I’ll vote for that one.”
It’s still got the gold staging, and it still has all the camera shots that you would imagine – however, It’s still not winning – It’s going not a great deal of anything special.
