17 June – Will it be forever?

Remember the says when there was only one semi-final? It happened, and if you think we had bloodbaths in semi-finals now, they were nothing like what we had between 2004 and 2007. To be fair, a single semi-final did cut out a lot of the dross. But some quality songs missed the cut too.

Whether the song by today’s birthday boy Anžej Dežan was one of them is for you to decide. His bouncy little song won a closely fought EMA in 2006, so off he went to Athens. He even switched his song from Slovene to English to give himself an extra chance. However, maybe the fun and games from EMA came back to haunt him, as he only managed 16th in the semi-final.

Anžej is 31 today.

Vesel rojstni dan, Anžej!
