Phil: Hmmmm … at 1:20 long, I hated the Spanish song and all it stood for and wanted to firebomb La Sexta (The channel that hijacked the Spanish selection). However, at 2:56 long I can see it for what it is. A nice piece of forgettable Euro-pap that will have the Wogan saying the usual things, but forgetting that this kind of thing is the hits across Europe normally anyway. I think that it can go one of two ways. The first way is that it will bomb, and that La Sexta will look stupid for entering and RTVE look happy-ish. The 2nd is that it will finish 6-10th and that La Sexta won’t have hijacked the contest and that RTVE look relieved. Either way – its a win for TVE and a lose for La Sexta. And that’s a good thing.
Nick: Rodolfo’s clearly the best of the Big 4 by a mile. Even at 4/7 to be best of the Big 4, it’s looking like free money – you don’t get *that* kind of interest rate at HSBC. It’s not perfect, but then the less perfect it is, the better it is. It’s nice when you can get that kind of win-win situation. As blatant as it is that The One In Pink is deliberately off the dance routine at all stages, it could still stand to be a little more blatant. I like. I think it’s just, by a fraction of an inch, the right kind of silly to score really really well.
