We love vintage here. There is more to Eurovision than someone clucking in ultra high definition. There were days when we had nothing more than respectable black & white, and an altogether more demure look.
Today we go back to 1967, when today’s birthday girl Géraldine Gaulier took the trip from Switzerland to Austria. She was actually born in Paris, but that’s by the by. Performing in a palace must have been hard, because the twenty-year old found it tough going and didn’t exactly set the scoreboard alight. If you notice, her initials are GG. Now, fast forward to 1998 and the mountainous Confederation again sent a singer whose initials are GG. And guess how the 1998 GG did? If you’re working for a Swiss broadcaster, there’s a lesson to be learned there.
Géraldine is 75 today.
Bonne anniversaire/Frohe Geburtstag/Buon compleanno, Géraldine!
